My uni results:

Ominous, no? I failed two core modules (by 3 and 4%, respectively) and a 20 credit module. By 13%. Unacceptable.
The options are; AFAIK -
1) Leave university.
2) Resit year 1.
3) Resit those three modules alongside my year 2 work.
4) Resit those modules/take a 'make up' test in August.
1) and 2) would break my heart. In the UK, you can only get 4 years of funding for a university course; unless you're doing dentistry, medicine, vet medicine or architecture. Technically, I'm on my 2nd year of funding due to going to uni in 2008 and dropping out. I would not get funding for a resit year and I can't afford to pay myself through. 3) would be hard work, and unlikely. 4) is what I have my fingers crossed for.
Girls, word of advice. If you go to uni, work hard. Don't get pregnant. Don't lay under your duvet in the mornings because the 10 minute walk to your test is just too long. Don't get complacent. Stay on top of your work, and revise hard. Don't be me.
I had a scholarship pay for my tuition for my 1st year but then I ended up pregnant and it was a 30 minute drive to class and being pregnant and having morning sickness and never wanting to go and then raising a baby just made things hard and I hated the school so I quit going after 1 year. I doubt my GPA was high enough to keep the scholarship anyway. I don't plan on going back anytime soon. If I do I'm hoping I can get some sort of aid. It is hard. I live in the US though so things are a little different. I hope the 4th option works for you.

I am going to be in my 4th year at uni in a couple of months here, and I still have a year and a half to go.
I should be graduating in May, but instead, I am graduating in December.
I will take it, I guess.
Better than nothing, right?
Working hard and doing your best at uni pays off in so many ways.
Yeah, all the studying leaves not a lot of time for being social, but it is worth it.
I am hoping to graduate somewhere in the top of my class.

Some of us just need more, or something else for those first few years. To be honest, I wish my parents had let me go to the community college right after high school, since I had NO IDEA what I wanted to study. I had to deal with failing a few courses, changing majors 4 times, and having to take an extra year at uni before I could get my degree. Which of course left me with heaps of debt. :/

Unfortunately I love my course, completely and utterly, so doing something else wouldn't interest me. Just an absolute life fail, me!
ReplyDeleteTry to August resit, you can do it, you only failed by a really small percent and you only need to pass to get onto second year. Then next year go in with a new plan, contact student support and get some in place. You could get disabled students allowance if you have mental health problems or any other problem and that can help SO much, I had my assessment with them yesterday and they were SO good :)
